Dear Potential Vendor,
At
this time, we have approximately ninety-five (95) members with
three hundred twenty (320) retail jewelry outlets and annual sales
volume of over 400 million wholesale and a billion dollars
retail. All of our members are highly respected, well established,
have an impeccable credit rating with many fruitful years
in the jewelry industry.
At this time we are in the process of increasing our membership.
Within the next few years our goal is to expand to a total
of 100 members.
The Continental Buying Group, Inc. office and the membership
of the Continental Buying Group will not accept any type of
reimbursement from any vendor which includes commissions,
kick-backs, overrides, etc.
The benefits to you are that the CBG members are required
to maintain their credit rating in the first
or second column with J.B.T. If not listed in J.B.T. they
must have a favorable D & B rating.
Their business has to do a minimum volume of 2½ million
dollars or more a year. We also have a credit and ethics committee,
which works to benefit both the members and the vendors and
is made up of existing members and the CBG, Inc. office. Quarterly
reports are sent to the vendor to
be filled out and returned to this office (almost like an
in house J.B.T. that benefits the vendors and the members.)
Additional benefits are as follows:
1. Your general information, deals, new products, special
promotions, etc. that you make with the group will be printed
in our C.B.G. files and computer discs. This information is
passed on to every member and is updated regularly.
2. We publish and distribute approximately ten (10) bulletins
per year. As an authorized vendor, you have the privilege
of using these bulletins as often as you desire. This is part
of the
communication cost.
3. A fax and email system has been set up to communicate
with the vendors and members for orders and other pertinent information.
4. A computer system is maintained with the proper information
on each member and vendor.
In addition, our activities under the auspices of the Continental
Buying Group, Inc. consist of the following:
A. A preview of your line is required at the Florida office before the winter meeting
unless other circumstances deem this unnecessary.
B. We meet two times a year at which time we have our shows. The first show is held in the winter,
either January or February in Tucson. The second show and meetings are held
in Las Vegas usually the end of May and beginning of June. Both are 3 day shows and
are only for Continental members and vendors. Vendors are chosen and invited at the
discretion of the membership. Members must attend.
The membership voted a $600.00 per year fee to be charged to all authorized vendors to cover
part of our communication costs. The only other cost to the vendor is if you are chosen to
participate in our shows. The cost of the winter show in Tucson is $6200 and our
spring show in Las Vegas is $6200 all-inclusive. This fee covers the
booth, 24 hour armed guard security, back and side drapes,
lighting, chairs, table, and the party. The CBG party has
become known as the best party in the jewelry industry.
All we ask from you in return is the lowest possible price
you can sell to the Group. If you are already selling an individual
member or members of Continental, the deal you offer must
be better than the deal they are already receiving. You the
vendor should sell us at a lower price than you are giving
any other single member. Remember, it is a very effective
way to sell a multitude of good customers with a minimum of
effort! The savings in travel alone is substantial.
